July is going to be a busy month and I won't be teaching any classes, but two weekends in August I will be teaching, dates to be determined:
Metal Stamping is a two hour class where you'll
learn tips about texturing metal and using metal stamps to create
personal, eye-catching jewelry.

Saw Puzzling The prices of silver keep going up, but we still want great silver pieces for our jewelry. Learning how to saw your own shapes is not only a money saver, but allows you the freedom to design and create anything you want in silver. In this two hour class, we'll learn and practice sawing skills while making a sophisticated puzzle piece pendant or earrings.

Beginning Soldering: Funky Necklace is a two hour class where we'll create a classy and fashionable necklace. Among other things, we'll discuss the difference between torch and glass soldering, and help you understand how solder, flux, and pickling work.

Intermediate Soldering: Scrap Pendant
If you have some soldering experience and want to begin working
on larger pieces, you'll definitely want to take this two hour class.
Not only will we teach you to put your sterling and gold-filled
scraps to good use, but you'll learn more about heat and reticulation,
practice using medium solder and additional soldering techniques.

two hour class where you take your wire working skills medieval. You'll
learn this elegant chain mail technique and variations along with
the properties of sterling silver, and making your own jump rings
with a mandrel and a jeweler's saw.

• Chinese Knotting is a
two hour class that is a fun diversion from the glass and metal Julie normally teaches. In this class students will get to see the process for making several basic jewelry knots that will be useful for embellishing and finishing corded jewelry.

• Coiled Wire Jewelry is a
two hour class where we will be learning about colored wire and using it to create unique and fun coil jewelry. This class will also spent time talking about color theory, and the relationship between wire gauge, coil size and strength.

• Copper Enameling is a two to three hour
class where you can learn about the basics of preparing copper
surfaces for enameling, the basic properties of enamel, the importance
of counterenameling, as well as several basic techniques for applying
enamel and creating designs. .

you'll learn to make several ring designs out of simple wire.

• Fused Glass Pendants is a two to three
hour class where you will learn how to make wearable pendants with
fusable glass. You will also learn the basic properties of glass,
such as coefficient of expansion (COE) and annealing temperature,
to ensure your creations will last. Several methods of making the
pendants wearable will be taught.

•Lampworking Basics I is a two hour class
where you learn what to expect from glass at temperatures from
70°F to 1800°F and how to use that to your advantage making
simple beads. There will be demonstrations of different steps
in the bead-making process and plenty of hands-on time for you
to practice at your own HotHead torch (provided). You will leave
the class with knowledge and experience making (fairly) round
beads.

•Lampworking Basics II is a two hour class
that focuses, first, on helping you refine the basics of making
a round bead and pulling stringers, including twisties and latticino,
at the proper thickness for various applications. Second, you
will learn or refine your ability to make shapes including donut,
round, barrel, teardrop, heart, bicone, tube, and cubes.

costs; students are allowed to bring already-purchased supplies
from home)

• Lampworking III is a four hour class that
intends to provide more one-on-one attention to students, taking
their current bead designs to a new level. It provides guidance
to students about new ways to use dots, stringers, shapes, and tools,
as well as teaching or helping students to refine additional or
advanced techniques, such as encasing, flowers, using glass shears,
and using bead presse, and may also include topics of interest such
as encased multi-level designs, bringing realism to designs, using
frit and metals, and manipulating texture. Note: because this class
does not take place in an actual lampworking studio, equipment and
ventilation limitations prevent us from covering fuming.
